Category: How Products benefit users No Comments »

Apart from built-in functionalities, these are my favorite applications so far:

Information Integration

Blog RSS Feed Reader Facebook application Blog RSS Feed Reader

This is the nicest RSS reader application in Facebook. Though it doesn’t replace a professional reader, it’s nice to have in your profile since you can check the title quickly and let people see what you’re reading. Integrating this with RSS mashups like Yahoo! Pipes is a good idea.

StumbleUpon Facebook application StumbleUpon

To share cool websites that you Stumble.

del.icio.us Facebook application del.icio.us

To share cool websites that you saves on del.icio.us.

Gifts

There are countless of gifts applications, but these 2 are very cute and the concept is nice too: to wait 4 days for the gift to grow/hatch.

Growing Gifts Facebook application Growing Gifts

Select a plant (or an object) and send to your friends. It will grow in 4 days.

Hatching Eggs Facebook application Hatching Eggs

Select a cute creature (or an object) and send to your friends in the form of an egg. The egg will hatch in 4 days.

Exploration

Birthday Calendar Facebook application Birthday Calendar

Although Facebook provides a birthday reminder, this application layouts all your friends’ birthdays so it’s easier for you to plan your celebration and/or presents ahead.

My Personality Facebook application My Personality

The main test is based on the Big-5 traits. It also explains typical horoscope psychology and test you against it. The good thing is that it compares you with your Facebook connections.

My Types Facebook application My Types

A MBTI test with percentage. It gives you the results of your Facebook friends too.

Tips for Linking to Google Presentations

Category: How Products benefit users No Comments »

    Google Presentation screenshot

If you publish a presentation at Google Docs, you’ll receive a simple URL that can be used to view the presentation online. Unfortunately, if you go to that URL without being logged in to a Google Account, Google will ask you to log in:

The explanation is that Google Presentations offers some advanced features that require authentication: chatting with other people that view the presentation and joining a presentation that’s already in progress. To view the presentation without logging in, click on the small link from the bottom of the page: “View published presentation in a new window”.

If you want to link directly to the presentation and skip the authentication page, just add “&skipauth=true” to the URL provided by Google and replace “Presentation” with “Present”. Here’s an example.

    URL provided by Google:
    http://docs.google.com/Presentation?docid=ID

    Modified URL:
    http://docs.google.com/Present?docid=ID&skipauth=true
(replace ID with the presentation’s ID)

Most people will also want to download the presentation, but Google doesn’t offer this feature in the view-only interface. You can link to the PPT file by using this format:

    http://docs.google.com/MiscCommands?command=saveasdoc&exportFormat=ppt&docid=ID

    Source: Google Operating System
